Anderson’s Buildings

Est. 1872.  Site of the first Bay of Plenty Times premises, whose first edition appeared on 4 September 1872. By October 1924 Bay Outfitters ‘The Suit Kings’ occupied a large slice of the Strand frontage between Hamilton and Harington streets, with three connecting stores, two storerooms’ downstairs, and a suit lounge upstairs. They were followed by Anderson and Willcock, Harold Anderson ‘The Trouser King’ and Warnock’s Drapery.
