Johnston’s Building

Est. 1938.  Built as a bakehouse for award-winning local baker Robert Johnston of the Tauranga Bakery. The stripped classical building with Art Deco influences is strongly horizontal but broken with vertical lines adding a strong clean linear expression. Davidson’s would have a long association with the building from 1946 until 2018.
