Norris Building

Est. 1867.  Built for Ebenezer Norris, almost opposite where the town wharf was later built. In 1879 it was the premises of the Bay of Plenty Butchery followed by various owners until in 1899 W. Harvey and Son took over. William Harvey had worked as a butcher in Tauranga since his arrival in 1864 and broke his leg at least three times. When Philip Anquetil took over his father’s boot and shoe-making business, he moved to the adjoining premises.
